It all started on Friday evening, I was having cough and cold. I thought I could manage with the Cough Syrup and the Tablets which dad has given
me when I packed to Mumbai. It did help me intially. I was quite relieved , relieved enough so that I could have an undisturbed sleep. When I woke
up in the morning, I felt that my nose dried up and was breathing hot breathe and started coughing. Switched of the cooler and checked up the
time. It was 4.30 in the morning !. This is the first time am getting up such early in the morning while in Mumbai. I was coughing loud enough and I
desperately wanted to stop it and go back to sleep as I still had atleast 2-3 hours sleep left in my eyes. Turned on the heater, got some hot water,
dissolved a spoon of salt in it and gougled it making that funny sound thru throat. I had instant relief after this. Took some more cough syrup,
watched TV, peeped thru the window to have a look at how surroundings look like in the early morning ! It was awasome ! Mumbai is getting lot of
mist in the morning these days and it was a feast to watch .
It was 6.00 in then and I was getting back my sleep. Slept for another good 4 hours. Stuck to the room as I didnt want to risk my health as myself
and myroom mate has planned for a Mumbai Dharshan( a small 1 day package tour in and around Mumbai city- will post on it seperately) on Sunday.
We I returned to room on Sunday evening after the tour, I decided to meet a doctor as my throat was getting too bad. For the first time in my life, I
could see my voice got affected so badly. Affected so bad that
I had to strain to raise my voice so that the other person could hear something from me in a strange Voice.
It sounds like as if I am speaking from a well or something like that. Most of the words I spoke came out as making the listener to keep guessing
what I was speaking out. As I need to go to work on Monday, I was desperatley to get rid of this weird sounding throat.
My search for a doctor began at around 7.00 PM. While travelling I have seen lots and lots of practicing Doctors board around our guest house. But
to my surprise I could not find even a single doctor kept his clinic opened on Sunday evening. Even strange was that found even the drug stores
remained closed.
I enquired a shop keeper whether I could find any doctors around in Hindi(nowadays i manage with little Hindi what I know). What he said , really
annoyed me. "Today is Sunday right ..You wont find any Doctors !". What ????
Don't doctors work on Sundays ? Dont Mumbai ppl fall sick on Sundays ???. I was literally cursing all the Doctors ! Ok I dont need a doctor, all I need
is some antibiotics which would help my throat not getting worse. I could get that from a Medical store. Each and every medical store remained
closed too. By this time I have already walked for some 40 mins and I could feel my legs begging for some rest. But I need some medicine for my
throat !!!. Thank God !!! There I could find a clinic which had a board saying "24 hrs Service".
I thanked all the Gods and hurriedly steped in the clinic to find two nurses siting in the reception and chating and laughing among themselves
The moment I entered, both of them gave a look at me with a raised eyebrows . It was like "Who this Guy is at these time ?". Wishing that some
doctor should be there in the 24 hrs service clinic. I just asked the nurses, "Is Doctor there ?" with my funny sounding throat. One of them said "No".
Not waiting for her reply I went on to say "I have a very bad throat infection, I need to get medicine from doctor, I could find no Doctors today
evening". One of the nurse did really understood my problem after hearing voice. She gave me a look like "Oh Poor guy..You really really have a bad
throat". The other one nodded her head and said in a low voice (as if she expressed she felt sorry for my condition) "Aaj Sunday hai na ?!!" (meaning
Today is Sunday right ?). Oh no !!!. I didn't want to hear such thing from a 24 hrs service clinic !.
Feeling so dejected, I stepped out cursing my own fate for having such bad throat infection.
As I stepped out of the stairs from the clinic, I just wanted go back, bang open the reception door and
say one thing.... just one thing to the nurses, "Hey girls You look sooooo cute !".
Update 1: Met doctor, he has given me some pills after saying my throat is badly infected.
Update 2: I failed in the acid test ! hahaha. Am using Yahoo messenger now. :-)
